Aprilia motorcycles. History.

Aprilia MotorcyclesItalian manufacturer Aprilia had started it’s scooter production in a small town of Noale just after Second World War. Until 1968 the company had been producing the bicycles, but things had changed when Ivan Beggio, son of the owner of Aprilia Motorcycles Alberto Beggio, came into business to build, together with his colleagues, the very first Aprilia motorcycle with as much as 50 cc. The success was followed by production of first mopeds by Aprilia, Colibri and Daniela. And two years later, in 1970, the making of the very first Aprilia’s cross bike took place. The bike, Scarabeo, had been produced for several years with powers varied from 50 to 125cc.  But the first real success came to the company with production of the next model, it’s first real motocross bike in 1974.

2012 Aprilia Caponord first spy photo

According to the Italian publication at «Motociclismo», this is the first spy photo of the new travel enduro Aprilia Caponord. Obviously, the bike is based on the 1200-cc engine and chassis models Aprilia Dorsoduro.

2011 Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 preview

To celebrate the official opening of its new headquarters in Milan, located at Broletto 13, executive director of Piaggio Group Roberto Colaninno presented information of two new models: Moto Guzzi V7 Racer, and more importantly, the new Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200. Supermoto grown up to be completed by a bulky engine configuration 90 ° V2, built based on the concept FV2, which was shown at the EICMA Motor Show back in 2007.
